Itinerary of Glorious Udaipur Jaipur Tour Package for 5 Days & 4 Nights
Day 1: Arrival, Check-in & Udaipur Sightseeing
Our private car with a driver will pick you up from Udaipur Railway Station or Airport and drive you to the hotel for check-in.
- City Palace- Mewar's largest architectural centerpiece, the City Palace, stretches along the eastern shore of Lake Pichola. It comprises eleven separate palaces. Intricate mirror mosaics reflect sunlight, and the royal chambers have balconies that provide stunning views. Museum galleries display a valuable royal collection, featuring weapons, paintings, and artifacts.
- Jagdish Temple- Built in 1651 by Maharana Jagat Singh, Jagdish Temple is a prominent Hindu temple that dominates the old city center with its towering Shikhara. You can climb steep stone steps to reach the sanctum, where daily worship rituals have continued uninterrupted for centuries. Elaborate stone carvings depicting mythological stories adorn the exterior walls.
- Lake Pichola- Maharana Udai Singh expanded the ancient Lake Pichola in the 1560s. He turned it into Udaipur's aquatic centerpiece, stretching four kilometers. Boats carry passengers between ghats to admire the magnificent palaces that adorn the marble-lined shores. During sunset, the water shimmers and the marble monuments glow with the hues, making it a perfect time for photographers to capture stunning moments.
- Jag Mandir Island Palace- A breathtaking three-story marvel, Jag Mandir Island Palace is an island retreat. Three generations of Maharanas constructed this yellow sandstone and white marble architecture between 1551 and 1652 as a royal summer escape. Gul Mahal's domed pavilion features delicate stonework while gardens provide cool respite from mainland heat.
- Bagore Ki Haveli- Mewar’s then Prime Minister, Amar Chand Badwa, built the Bagore Ki Haveli in the 18th-century. The mansion features 138 rooms overlooking Gangaur Ghat. Today, it houses a museum that displays royal turbans up to 5 meters in length alongside vintage cameras and traditional costumes. Evening Dharohar folk show captivates audiences with Ghoomar dance performances.
- Hathi Pol Bazaar or Bada Bazaar- Named after the elephant gate that marked the old city entrance, Hathi Pol Bazaar and the Bada Bazaar are interconnected markets. They have thrived with commercial energy since medieval times. Shopkeepers display Pichwai paintings on cloth depicting Krishna's life, along with silver tribal jewelry. You can buy brightly embroidered textiles, mirrorwork footwear, and hand-carved wooden puppets.
Day 2: Udaipur Sightseeing
Get ready early in the morning for Udaipur sightseeing and explore the heritage sites.
- Saheliyon Ki Bari- Maharana Sangram Singh II gifted the Saheliyon Ki Bari to his queen in the 1710s. It is a rare ode to the happiness, beauty, and leisure of royal women. Also known as the “Garden of the Maidens,” the garden was where 48 handmaidens accompanied royal ladies visiting the garden to walk, converse, and celebrate life amidst nature’s tranquility.
- Fateh Sagar Lake- Maharana Jai Singh reconstructed the Fateh Sagar Lake as a reservoir in 1678 after the original dam collapsed during floods. Three islands dot the waters. Nehru Park features boat-accessible gardens, while the Solar Observatory island supports astronomical research. Cruising its calm waters, you'll see Aravalli Hills, the Maharana Pratap Memorial atop Moti Magri Hill, and the distant glimmer of Lake Pichola.
- Vintage Car Museum- Housed within the Garden Hotel's former stables, the Vintage Car Museum preserves a collection showcasing the Mewar royal family's passion for automobiles since the 1920s. Star attractions are models of Rolls-Royce, MG-TC convertible, Mercedes-Benz, and Cadillac. Each vehicle displays photographs and documents with commentary that explains restoration challenges of maintaining century-old engines.
- Sajjangarh Palace (Monsoon Palace)- Maharana Sajjan Singh began construction of the Sajjangarh Palace in the 19th century. He intended to build an astronomical observatory to track approaching monsoon clouds. Although Sajjan Singh’s untimely death left the observatory incomplete, the palace became a scenic retreat for the Mewar royals. The hilltop ruin commands views across five lakes simultaneously.
- Shilpgram- West Zone Cultural Centre maintains Shilpgram, which is a rural arts complex three kilometers from the city. You can witness tribal and folk traditions from five states. Authentic huts represent different regions' architectural styles while resident artisans demonstrate dying arts like Bhil painting and Warli artwork. You can purchase these handmade goods to support the artisans.
Day 3: Breakfast, transfer to Jaipur & Jaipur Sightseeing
After checking out of the hotel, you will depart for Jaipur. It is an approximately 6-7 hour journey through the Rajasthan countryside, so we will start early. Upon arrival in Jaipur and check-in at the hotel, you can head for a short trip to the most popular tourist attraction of the city.
- Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds)- Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh commissioned Hawa Mahal in 1799, enabling royal women to view street processions while remaining unseen behind latticed screens. Architect Lal Chand Ustad designed a pyramidal structure mimicking Krishna's crown. It reaches five stories, though only single-room deep. You can admire the pink sandstone structure as the sunlight illuminates it.
Day 4: Jaipur Sightseeing
Early morning, you can step out of your hotel for comprehensive Jaipur sightseeing and explore multiple heritage sites.
- Amber (Amer) Fort- Raja Man Singh I began construction of the Amber Fort in 1592. The architecture combines Rajput and Mughal styles in a four-level complex. The ceiling of Sheesh Mahal has thousands of mirror pieces that reflect light to create a starry effect. The stepwell in the palace supplied water during sieges. Secret passages allowed for emergency escapes. A sound-and-light show tells the story of the fort over the past 600 years.
- Panna Meena ka Kund- Built in the 16th century, Panna Meena ka Kund is an eight-story stepwell. The perfect geometric patterns serve both practical water storage and social gathering purposes. Women traditionally collected water while exchanging news, making the stepwell a refreshing community center. The staircases are perfect for capturing stunning architectural photos, as they are symmetrical and cross each other as they descend.
- Jaigarh Fort- Sawai Jai Singh II fortified the Jaigarh Fort. It is a 1726 hilltop stronghold that protects the Amber Fort below. It housed a cannon foundry producing Jaivana, the world's largest wheeled cannon. You can witness the massive water tanks that harvested rainwater to sustain thousands of locals during prolonged sieges.
- Nahargarh Fort- The Nahargarh Fort was built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh in 1734 as a defensive position. It forms a protective triangle with Amber and Jaigarh forts. You can admire Madhavendra Bhawan's nine identical apartments for Jai Singh's nine queens. The Wax Museum displays historical figures while the rooftop restaurant serves dinner with twinkling city lights stretching endlessly below, creating a romantic evening ambiance.
- Jal Mahal (Water Palace)- Maharaja Madho Singh I built the Jal Mahal as a hunting lodge in 1699. It was flooded during the monsoon, giving it the iconic water palace look we see today. Four underwater floors are still hidden, while the rooftop garden thrived for a short time. The recently restored exterior shows Rajput craftsmanship that you can capture from afar. Migratory birds, including kingfishers, nest in the nearby wetlands, drawing birdwatchers each season.
Day 5: Breakfast, Optional Sightseeing & Departure
After hotel check-out, you can proceed with sightseeing if the departure schedule permits.
- Birla Mandir- Industrial magnate B.M. Birla commissioned the Birla Mandir in 1988. The temple is built using white Makrana marble, the same material used in the Taj Mahal. Three domes represent different approaches to spirituality, while stained glass windows depict the teachings of Hindu scriptures. It is open to people of all faiths, regardless of caste or religion.
- Galtaji Temple (Monkey Temple)- Diwan Rao Kriparam commissioned the Galtaji Temple. A temple complex that was built entirely without cement using interlocking stones. Hundreds of resident monkeys consider this their territory, so you must not carry food bags. The complex also has natural springs that fill seven sacred tanks. The Kunds draw pilgrims seeking purification through holy-water immersion ceremonies.
- Chokhi Dhani- Chokhi Dhani is an ethnic resort that recreates traditional Rajasthani village life across expansive grounds. They offer unlimited Thali dining featuring Rajasthan’s speciality dishes, such as Dal Bati Churma. Artisans demonstrate pottery on wheels, puppet masters perform Kathputli shows, and fortune tellers read palms. Camel cart rides, magic shows, and mehendi artists provide continuous entertainment.
